Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician
Program Overview
The Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician program exists through a partnership between Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute (MFRI), Calvert County Public Schools, and the Calvert County Department of Public Safety. The firefighting course includes classroom instruction as well as formal on-site training at a MFRI-approved facility in La Plata. This is a two-year intensive program that emphasizes the foundation necessary for entrance into a variety of medical professions.
Emergency Medical Technician and Fire I certification courses approved by MFRI. Students must join and maintain an active membership with the Volunteer Fire Department or Rescue Squad in Calvert County.
