Curriculum for Agricultural Science Education (CASE)
Program Overview
Students in this program will learn about the pathways of agriculture including production agriculture; financing, processing, marketing, distribution of agricultural products; health, nutrition, and food consumption; use and conservation of water and land resources, development and use of biotechnology and scientific innovation within the field. As a primarily animal-focused pathway, students will participate in hands-on activities, problem- and project-based learning experiences and utilize the design process to solve real-world problems.
During year 1, students are exposed to the expansive web of agricultural education including animals and plants, agriculture power and technology, career and leadership skills, and environmental and natural resources, with a specific focus in animal physiology, behavior, nutrition, genetics, welfare, and reproduction. During year 2, students complete more scientific and technical practices of agriculture through biotechnology applications and complete a Senior Capstone project that demonstrates real-world problem-solving skills.
