Admissions
Enrollment Procedures for Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs at the Career & Technology Academy
Programs at the Career & Technology Academy (CTA) are two-year programs. Students may begin these programs in their Junior Year and will complete them during their Senior year. The enrollment process begins January 1 of the student’s sophomore year.
Priority Enrollment Is Now Closed
PRIORITY Enrollment ended Jan. 30 at 5 p.m. ROLLING ADMISSIONS and WAITLIST form is now available.
Students who did not submit during the priority enrollment period between Jan. 1 and Jan. 30 will be considered for available spaces on a "first-come, first-served" basis after all priority enrollment students have been extended appropriate enrollment invitations. Admissions offers for rolling admissions will be made through the first week of the next school year if and when spaces are available. Individual students will be contacted if space becomes available.
If the student completes the CTA Enrollment Form DURING the Priority Enrollment Period
If there are equal to or fewer students interested in a program than there are spaces available:
- All students who meet minimum eligibility requirements (grade-level, credits, prerequisites) and who completed during the priority enrollment period will receive a placement in the program.
- Students will be notified by February 10 of this status and are required to complete a placement acceptance agreement via their school email within one week of notification of program offer.
If there are more students interested in a program than there are spaces available:
- All students who meet minimum eligibility requirements during the priority enrollment period will be entered into a lottery.
- Students selected via lotteries will be notified by February 10 of this status and are required to complete a placement acceptance agreement via their school e-mail within one week of notification of program offer. If a student does not complete the acceptance, the student’s space may be relinquished to the next student for consideration.
- Students not selected via lotteries will be offered second or other choices for other openings. If an opening is available to the student, they will be offered that program and required to complete the placement acceptance agreement.
- All students not selected via lottery for their first choice program will automatically be added to a waitlist for spaces in that first choice, including students who identified/selected a second or other choice.
Secondary Admissions Consideration Period Begins Feb. 2
Students who did not submit for consideration during the priority enrollment period can submit an enrollment form at any time during the secondary admissions process. The secondary admissions process will close at the end of the first week of school for the enrollment year.
Students who submit during the secondary admissions period will be considered for and offered spaces only after all students who submitted during the priority enrollment period (including those who have been placed on waiting lists) have been given consideration and only as spaces allow.
Military-Connected Students Enrolling in CCPS
Military-connected students who enroll as rising juniors or seniors as a result of transferring due to a parent or guardian's permanent change of duty station (PCS) on official orders after the last Thursday in February of their 10th grade year will be provided with an opportunity to complete the enrollment process for programs at CTA. If space in a program is not available at the time of the student's enrollment, the student will be given priority consideration on the waitlist for openings if they occur. Rising seniors can be considered for Level I seats (if they do not have prior experience in a program area) if enrolling in the class does not negatively impact their ability to graduate on time. Students who have previously participated in the same or similar programs will be placed in programs as appropriate to their previous level of completion without a further enrollment process. Military-connected rising juniors or seniors should begin the process with CTA enrollment in their comprehensive high schools and school counselors will assist further with CTA program enrollment options.
