Southern Maryland Regional Competitions
Students in Charles, St. Mary’s and Calvert Counties compete and are able to advance to a state level if they earn a gold, silver or bronze medal. The competition locations are rotated between each of the three counties.
Maryland Leadership and Skills Conference
Students throughout the state that competed and placed in their respective regional competition in trade, technical, and leadership fields will participate in this event. If a student earns a gold medal, they are eligible to represent the state of Maryland on a national level.
National Leadership and Skills Competition
The National Leadership and Skills Conference is the showcase for the best career and technical students. Students competed beginning at the local level and continue through the state and national levels.
The National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) is the acknowledged leader in the recognition of excellence in career and technical education (CTE) and a major scholarship source for its members. NTHS membership is recognized by business, industry, and education as the hallmark of student achievement and leadership. Today, more than 3,000 schools and colleges are affiliated with the Society, including the Career and Technology Academy.
If a CTE student has a grade point average of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale, has superior school behavior and excellent school attendance, they may be eligible to join NTHS.
